Billfishing Xtreme Release League, and heavy on the Xtreme. The next level of competitive big game fishing. In the Xtreme League, skill level requirements are pushed past anything that has to-date been seen on the tournament landscape.

billfishing Flawless performance by every member of the tournament-seasoned teams participating is necessary to capitalize on the point structure and anything less results in costly point penalties. A broken line is more than a lost fish -- points are deducted from the team's score. Angler Beware. A tag is required, but anywhere besides the specified tag zone costs the team points -- forcing accuracy and patience on the part of the crew. Even after the tag is in place, the leader has to be cut short to get the full point value of the fish.

Experience and finesse on the skippers' part is key or the whole scenario breaks down. Nobody on the crew gets a free ride. In this League, you perform or the team pays the price.

With over $600,000 dollars at stake and fish that can range from 50 lbs. to over 1000 lbs., all of which will be released, the excitement is only matched by the drama.

Billfishing Xtreme was designed with three goals in mind. (1) Conservation and promotion of a healthy, offshore fishery. (2) A competitive format that challenges the skill of the entire team, and, (3) bringing to the public the riveting excitement of big game fishing.

Billfishing Xtreme Release League premiers on Inside BIG GAME Fishing starting July 7th, Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. ET on ESPN 2.
